Job Description:

Join the fast-paced world ofembedded controller design at Microchip, the world's leading embedded controller solutions supplier. As manager of our seasoned validation team, you will work on microprocessor-based products that go into tablets, desktops, notebooks, and embedded systems. This includes understanding product functions from the design specifications. You will manage a validation team developing software, firmware and hardware to exercise new devices and validate the product functions. Your team will create and execute validation plans and debug test issues. You will manage and maintain a reusable validation environment, including PCBs, firmware, software, scripts, test results and associated test documentation. You will work closely with architects, designers, and verification engineers. We have a goal of automating our test environment.


BS/MS inElectrical or Computer Engineering. Master's degree is a plus.
Understanding of embedded microprocessor design and internal architecture.
5+ years of experience with IC validation.
5+ years of experience in ASIC test automation.
Experience managing an offshore team of engineers as well as a local team.
10+ years of experience managing a team of engineers and technicians
Ability to schedule a validation project from inception through FPGA, ASIC and stream out.
Ability to manage multiple validation projects simultaneously
Coordinate multiple board designs for each ASIC project, including evaluation boards, daughter cards, interposer boards, etc. Obtain appropriate sockets for daughter cards where needed.
Coordinate purchases for the lab and each project.
10+ years of experience programming SW and FW and debugging using C and C++
Knowledge of personal computer hardware and architecture
Ability to read and understand board-level schematics.
Proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other test equipment.
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting customers using ASIC devices.
Team player attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work remotely with cross-functional teams across multiple sites.
Willing and capable of comprehending and applying industry standard specifications such eSPI, QSPI, I2C, I3C, USB, SMBus, SPI, MCTP, PECI, PCI, Cryptographic Security functions, CAN, etc.
Embedded programming, specifically using the ARM.
Use of a version control system, specifically, the Perforce version control software.

Any of the following skills would be considered a plus:
Industry standards like I2C, I3C, USB, SMBus, SPI, MCTP, PECI, PCI bus and LPC.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Visual Studio/Visual C, MPLabX.
Understanding of JIRA for bug tracking and scheduling tasks.
Board level design experience.
