12 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 1/15/2024- 8/15/2024.

This job requires a minimum of three months of verifiable prior experience working on a nursery handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Knowledge of fertilization and watering of plants is necessary. Workers must be able to perform manual as well as mechanized activities with accuracy and efficiency. Workers will water plants and fertilize all annual and perennial plant material grown on site. Workers must be able to identify lack of nutrition and types of fertilization each variety of plant requires. Workers will space plants according to variety and hanging of basket material. Will cover and/or uncover winter storage houses. Loads/unloads trucks and wagons of all plant material grown on the farm. Will operate tractors and other mechanical equipment under supervision.

Work is to be done in the field or greenhouse for long periods of time. Workers will assist in loading trucks with nursery products weighing up to and including 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related chemicals, etc. may affect workers' ability to perform the job. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day. Temperatures may range from 10 to 100 F. Workers will be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop operations.

Will be required to perform variable tasks such as the following: irrigation, ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, weeding & other tasks related to a nursery operation. Work will also include mechanized field work using power equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction.

Requirements:

  • Exposure to extreme temps, repetitive movements, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive walking and frequent stooping.
  • Lifting requirement of 60 lbs.
  • Three months verifiable prior experience in described task.
  • All workers will be subject to a trial period of up to five days during which the employer will evaluate workers' performance of required tasks.
