Council of Industry Part-Time HR Manager in Hopewell Junction, New York

Overview

The Human Resources Manger will be responsible for managing the overall HR strategy, oversight and implementation. This individual will work closely with Operations, R&D, Sales, Procurement, Finance, and Product Development to manage and support key HR decisions regarding current and future talent, compliance and business needs.

The selected individual is expected to provide direction and coach staff in order to enhance and direct the HR functions of recruitment, talent management, workforce planning, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, leadership and organizational development. To do so successfully, the individual needs to work effectively with both the management team and subordinates to maintain an environment where employees, including manufacturing, can be motivated and revitalized. Equally important, the individual is expected to work effectively with the Operations team and provide HR consultation and advice to the middle managers and senior leadership team. This position needs to work effectively across matrixed, direct and indirect functions, as well as work across functions, providing influence without necessarily oversight. Working directly with senior management, this individual is expected to support the alignment of eMagin’s organizational strategy.

The ideal candidate will be seasoned with 5+ years of demonstrated ability in talent and succession management, management and leadership, compensation and employee relations. Ability in process improvement, change management, analytics and financial acumen is critical to this role. Experience in manufacturing – semi-conductor industries preferred and a broad perspective from working with diverse client groups, is needed in order to best support broad client needs.

Hours: Flexible / Part Time / Hybrid

Note: Open to creative scheduling - we are a 24 hour job site and request the HR Manager to be reachable in case of emergency. Daily administrative tasks and questions will be answered by on site HR Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Administer compensation and benefit plans

  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes

  • Conduct employee onboarding

  • Provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as leaves, compensation, etc and resolve issues and problems

  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace

  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies

  • Gather and analyze useful HR metrics data

  • Maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality

  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form

  • Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements

  • Monitor the accurate processing of new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations

  • Lead company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the EEO, the ADA, the FMLA, ERISA, DOL, WC, OSHA, AAP etc. Maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits.

  • Oversee and manage HR Coordinator

  • Oversee and manage Benefits and Comp plan

Demonstrate Functional HR Expertise and Oversight:

  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in functional HR areas: ER, compensation and benefits, training and OD, recruitment and apply that knowledge to influence others toward successful solutions

  • Manage organizational risk in application and implementation of all policies and practices

  • Serve as a business partner and consultant

Fiscal Responsibility:

  • Develop and manage an annual department budget

  • Oversee all departmental expenditures to ensure they are in line with fiscal requirements

  • Manage headcount planning and tracking

  • Ensure that compensation plans meet the needs of the business and are reviewed for relevancy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or business management and development, HRCI certification a plus

  • 5+ year’s progressive human resources generalist experience

  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organization planning, organizational development, employee relations, recruitment and training and development

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management

  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Above average interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong consultative, communication and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in HR service delivery

  • General business and financial acumen; demonstrated analytical and creative thinking ability
