JOB SUMMARY:

The Children’s Center Operations Supervisor leads a team of Instructors, Aides, and Coordinators to execute the successful operation of our group lessons for ages 3-14 while ensuring we are delivering the experience of a lifetime to our guests

The supervisor will be responsible for the cleanliness and operation of the facility, running lesson lineups, assigning appropriate instructors to classes, and ensuring lessons start and end on time; while maintaining a high standard of lesson delivery and guest service. Duties include overseeing operation within the Children’s Center facility through the guest’s entire process. They will also work to identify areas where the program or products could be adapted to better serve our employees and guests and may also be required to assist with administrative tasks to meet our procedural deadlines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that operational resources such as signage, fencing, tools etc. are ready to go prior to opening, and identify areas where additional tools or resources would improve the employee or guest experience.

  • Oversee the children’s center equipment operation, ensuring equipment is properly labeled, stored, tech procedures are followed and paperwork filed.

  • Facilitate the operation of the rental area, seeking accuracy and efficiency while maintaining a safe and productive shop.

  • Manage non-instructional staff (aides) to support the students and lessons, and maintain the cleanliness, and smooth and efficient operation of the facility.

  • Coordinate and execute daily lesson logistics including delivering daily information to staff, assigning classes and completing yard sheets in a clear and timely manner for payroll entry. This includes assigning and overseeing coordinators to complete these tasks.

  • Oversee the on-snow lesson operations to be a resource for instructors and to identify coaching or training needs with our staff, especially as it pertains to child development and understanding the group dynamic.

  • Report grooming and learning area terrain needs as they arise.

  • Provide timely feedback both positive and constructive, to instructor supervisors, to maintain a high quality of lesson delivery and guest service. Take disciplinary action when required, and escalate concerns in a timely manner. This includes meeting with training coordinator to determine training needs for staff both on-snow and off.

  • Handle guest interactions, including complaints, with tact and professionalism. Resolve guest issues as per department policy or escalate concerns in a timely manner.

  • Build good working relationships with both the Rental Shop and Product Sales leadership teams to ensure consistency of guest communication and gear maintenance.

  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure the accurate record and entry of employees splitting time between different departments.

  • Monitor business levels within the programs and communicate scheduling needs to the Assistant Manager or Administrator as needs or concerns arise.

  • Assist the Ski & Snowboard School leadership team with hiring and training.

  • Fill-in for other supervisors or coordinators as assigned.

  • Attend and participate in regular meetings of the leadership team, and disseminate the information gathered to their own team in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Assume shared responsibility along with employees and management staff to ensure all employee and equipment storage areas are kept clean, tidy, and required maintenance or supply/ordering needs are taken care of in a timely manner.

  • Gain and maintain a basic understanding of sales procedures, and a solid understanding of scheduling and inventory pools.

  • Work unsupervised in a manner that is professional and consistent with department and company policies and procedures.

  • Allow employees an appropriate amount of freedom and responsibility in the workplace and maintain high staff morale.

  • Perform additional tasks as requested by department Managers, the General Manager, and Senior Management team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous leadership experience required, 2+ years supervisory experience preferred

  • Minimum PSIA or AASI Level 1 certification highly desired

  • Experience instructing skiing and/or snowboarding preferred

  • A passion for and previous experience working with children

  • Highly organized and have the ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure

  • Strong communication, motivational, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow, train, and enforce specific departmental procedures

  • Must be positive, energetic, and upbeat with the ability to handle a fast-paced work environment

  • Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory background screening

  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays throughout the winter season, and understand the dynamics of a seasonal business

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger/handle or feel, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and

arms. Sometimes the employee is required to climb or balance. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Assist fallen students in getting up and maintaining balance. Must have good close vision, distance vision, night vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Wil be required to walk and balance in wet, icy, and uneven footing. Ability to perform the duties of this job in all weather conditions. Must possess the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, and/or snow and ice covered services, stairs, and/or ladders. Must have the ability to tolerate exposure to work in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud on occasion.
