The Office of the University Registrar acts as the steward of academic and student information. The Office of the Registrar champions the constant renewal of student information systems, adapts operations to changing academic needs, federal, state, and institution policies, and evaluates administrative processes for services improvements.

The Assistant University Registrar for Academic Technology, Planning & Design is integral to the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) and supports the mission of the office to create, maintain, and protect the academic records of current and former students. We ensure accurate academic records, information support, data analysis, and reporting for OUR, Office of Enrollment Compliance and Design (OECD), offices across campus, and external organizations. OUR participates in all compliance efforts and systems projects by providing business-specific knowledge and requirements, investigating technology solutions, end-to-end testing, and leading and participating in implementations. OUR frequently collaborates with staff in college registrar offices, Bursar, Financial Aid, Admissions, Graduate School, Enrollment Compliance and Design, Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, and Cornell Information Technology.

Position Summary
The Assistant University Registrar for Academic Technology, Planning & Design is integral to the Office of the University Registrar (OUR). The position will provide business analysis, road maps for technology, and assist with project coordination for essential platform implementations, software releases, and upgrades. They will provide guidance and leadership in the coordination of requirement gathering, testing, training, and documentation. The position will coordinate with the Deputy University Registrar and Associate University Registrar, Curriculum & Scheduling to identify areas of system integrations, business process gaps, and report/dashboard development for new technologies that are implemented. In addition to new technologies, this person will work with Associate and Assistant University Registrars in OUR to document and create technology road maps for technology already in use.

The Assistant University Registrar for Academic Technology, Planning & Design will work closely with the College Registrar offices, teams within OUR and the Enrollment Compliance Program / Project Management Team at the division level to create technology roadmaps. The roadmaps could include technologies that support room scheduling, degree audit, catalog/curriculum management, section scheduler or our student information system. Roadmaps must include planning for all levels of the implementation including but not limited to the development, testing, implementation, training, and annual maintenance windows. The technology roadmaps will be leveraged in presentations and various levels of senior leadership and advisory committees.

This person will be expected to uphold industry standards and national best practices across all functions. It is expected this person will research best practices and raise those as part of the projects they are working on. The person in this position must demonstrate high levels of collaboration, communication, and accuracy. The Assistant University Registrar must have strong functional expertise with demonstrated leadership capacity and superb time management skills. Balancing day-to-day work, testing, and training responsibilities with project work while delivering successful outcomes is essential.

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant University Registrar for Academic Technology, Planning & Design include, but are not limited to:

Providing leadership to vision and improve system technologies used by the Registrar's Office and all schools/colleges, academic departments, and administrative units.

Track, schedule, and plan for system upgrades, testing for new technologies and upgrades of existing tools already used by the Office of the University Registrar.

Assist with planning and coordination of projects, training, and documentation for end-users within the schools/colleges and central registrar offices.

Advises on functional support, technical support, and quality control to the Registrar's Offices; escalate issues as necessary.

Acts as a steward for academic information and manages data for accuracy.Interprets data for optimal process and system use.Works with other OUR teams to define data feeds and analyze data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the technology map and implementation of new and existing technology solutions.

In coordination with the Information Support and Curriculum and Scheduling teams, assist with college/school and department requirements gathering sessions.

Maintain a culture of superior customer service.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in higher education student services with an in-depth understanding of student records administration.

Demonstrated ability to develop documentation and deliver effective training.

Knowledge of business processes and practices related to curriculum management and classroom scheduling in higher education.

Working knowledge of a Student Information System, including but not limited to course, class, and enrollment modules.

Experience in data analysis and report development.

Ability to solicit, document and communicate business requirements, problems, issues, and solutions to technical and non-technical users.

Understand and document project impacts by developing process designs/diagrams (e.g., current state to future state), identify gaps/opportunities, identify upstream and downstream impacts, and translate into project goals/outcomes and business user cases.

Familiarity with standard office software packages and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with project management tools.

Experience using PeopleSoft Query and Cornell's student data mart or similar reporting structures.

Experience using curriculum management and scheduling tools such as 25Live, EMS, Ad Astra, Modern Campus/Digital Architecture, Coursedog, or CourseLeaf.

Experience with degree audit platforms such as PeopleSoft Degree Audit/Academic Advisement, uAchieve, Stellic, or DegreeWorks.

Knowledge of Application Programming Interface (API) and web services.

Supervisory experience.

Master's degree.
