About the School of Biomedical Engineering

The primary mission of Cornell University's Biomedical Engineering department is to educate students to understand the human body as an integrated system through quantitative engineering analysis and to use that understanding to design better therapeutic strategies, devices, and diagnostics. A mission of nearly equal importance is to serve society by conducting research that develops quantitative linkages across scales in the human body and uses that development to build new tools to improve human health.


The Opportunity

Are you passionate about supporting students and driving academic program success? The School of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Graduate Field Administrator, MEng to provide leadership, management, and administration for our MEng program. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous development of our program, fostering a positive environment for student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, Admissions, and Enrollment: Coordinate all aspects of the MEng recruitment, admissions, and enrollment process to attract and enroll top talent.
  • Program Events and Activities: Independently plan and execute a variety of program events and activities, including welcome and orientation events. Disseminate important information related to registration, employment, research opportunities, and graduation events.
  • Student Support: Serve as the first point of contact for student concerns. Support student progress by monitoring and verifying degree completion requirements, facilitating and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Program Development: Participate actively in the implementation of BME's recruiting plan and contribute to the continuous improvement of the MEng program.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site during the academic year. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement during winter break and summer term. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. This position is required to work commencement weekend and potentially a handful of other events that may be scheduled outside of normal business hours.

  • Hold an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.

  • Actively listen, be patient, and remain calm in highly sensitive situations, e.g., when attending to a student of concern; use of sound judgement when referring students to other services.
  • Have impeccable integrity with a clear sense of ethics, fairness, discretion, and personal responsibility.
  • Read and comprehend policies, guidelines, protocols and ask appropriate questions when dealing with outlier situations.
  • Quickly learn software programs and create meaningful reports both routine and ad hoc.
