The Career Advisor Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Director of Career Management for Johnson, this role will serve as our lead Career Advisor for MBA students pursuing career paths in consulting. This position is highly collaborative and engaged with multiple stakeholders, working closely with Johnson faculty, the Consulting Club, the centers, and alumni to provide insight on consulting careers and to facilitate relevant contacts for the students. The role will develop, in concert with faculty and alumni, the resources the students can leverage in their on and off campus searches. Further this role will conceptualize impactful programming such as lectures, training programs, special events, small-group meetings and individual advising sessions to enhance their interest and understanding of the consulting field.
Additionally, the Advisor will be responsible for developing and managing connections with companies and organizations that employ MBAs for consulting positions including consulting firms and companies that have internal consulting opportunities. This role will monitor the employment status of our consulting students, produce periodic updates to senior staff in the career management center about the employment climate, and develop new ways to boost employment numbers and increase student engagement in the consulting field.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience either directly working in consulting or advising students interested in the consulting industry.
Must be familiar with graduate business education, business communication, and corporate etiquette.
Must have the maturity and judgment to work with students who have 5-10 years of business experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Strong organizational and project management skills required.
Proficiency in using online resources required.
Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Strong desire to work with students, faculty and employers in a college environment.
Must be able to travel approximately 15 - 20% of the time.
An MBA degree or equivalent.
7+ years of direct experience working in the consulting industry and/or in corporate recruiting.
Successful track record of driving results.
Experience in coaching and mentoring.
Experience in bringing on new accounts and customers.

This position is full-time and is eligible for benefits. Additionally, this position will allow for the flexibility to work remotely at a location of the employee's choosing within the United States. This role does require travel, approximately during 8-10 weeks in the year, concentrated in the late summer/fall season.
The majority of travel required is to our campus in Ithaca, NY but could include other locations in the United States.
