The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Cornell is seeking a mission-oriented and client-focused Student Services Administrative and Event Support who will support student life, event planning, admissions, career services, and office operations. This position will be working alongside a large, vibrant team of Student Services professionals to provide holistic support (academic development and extra-curricular activities that support their physical and mental wellbeing) for the diverse veterinary students population at CVM.
What you will do:
As part of the Student and Academic Services Team at CVM who is dedicated to providing personalized, friendly, and efficient assistance to students, faculty, and staff, you will:
\* Coordinate and support for several large-scale, high-level events: Career Connections, Summer Student Program, White Coat, Commencement, Family Weekend, Versatile Veterinary speaker series, Orientation, Information Session, and Open House along with Student Organizations events.
\* Schedule travel, create itineraries, and book accommodations for guest speakers as needed.
\* Provide excellent customer service in the answering of questions related to a broad area of student services, admissions, financial aid, student events, and registrar.
\* Review and respond to emails pertaining to Student Services and postal mail for content, to distribute appropriately.
\* Maintain office supply inventory and serve as purchasing coordinator for the office.
\* Provide class rank information and assist with internship and licensing documents.
\* Manage additional activities and logistics in support of DVM students.
Some weekend and evening work may be required based on the event calendar.
What you have:
\* High school diploma with formal training beyond six months to 1 year with 2-4years of related administrative assistant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
\* Demonstrate sound judgment, have strong priority setting and time management skills.
\* Must be able to handle several competing priorities in a demanding office environment with a high level of customer service skills.
\* Experience with or capacity to learn various software applications, including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Access.
\* Familiarity with Web-based applications such as Outlook and Drupal(web content system).
\* Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills along with approachable disposition and professional demeanor.
\* Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities and frequent interruptions.
\* Strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
