Ithaca College SUMMER MUSIC ACADEMY- RESIDENCE HALL COUNSELOR in Ithaca, New York

Job Summary:

Temporary, live-in positions as Residence Hall Counselors from July 14-21, 2024 (High School Division), and/or July 28-August 3, 2024 (Intermediate Division), with training from July 11-13, 2024, responsible for providing supervision and guidance to students who stay overnight in Ithaca College residence halls. Duties include ensuring the physical safety and overall well-being of participants; checking-in with students at each meal; running a daily recreation activity; assisting faculty and conductors as needed; performing as needed; possibly storing and administering prescription medication as per the guidelines of the Tompkins County Health Department; serving as a role model for students both personally and professionally; and keeping the assigned RA and Director advised of any conflicts, accidents and disciplinary problems in the residence hall.

Qualifications:

Candidates should express genuine interest in working with a diverse group of students in a residence hall environment and have a basic understanding of human, social, and educational development. A background in music is required. Candidates with prior experience working with youth in a camp environment, a history of providing leadership to a variety of age groups, and the ability to foster the development of a community through a variety of methods preferred. All counselors are required to attend a health and safety meeting and be able to practice and adhere to the methods and guidelines as stated in the Ithaca College Safety and Medical Plan. Preference will be given to current Ithaca College Center for Music students.

Compensation:

Residence Hall Counselors are compensated on a weekly basis at $1,125 per week.
