Facilities Management (FM) provides maintenance, grounds, and custodial services to the entire campus. FM serves as a partner within the zone structure for the Contract Colleges (CC), Endowed (EN), and Student and Campus Life (SCL) zones.
As a key steward of the University's facilities, FM is responsible for facility assessments, skilled trades, general construction, building care, grounds, recycling, asbestos, and the management of planned, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
The successful candidate will perform manual labor and independently operates light equipment for general construction maintenance and /or construction tasks, including snow removal, and other duties. Promptly report unsafe conditions or damage to campus landscape, equipment, or facilities. Safely operate hand and self-propelled equipment and tools including string trimmers, Tamps, blowers, snow blowers, rakes, and shovels to achieve required construction standards.
Subject to call-in twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to handle emergencies, especially snow emergencies.Subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays) to meet seasonal work demand. Subject to working in weather related extremes of high and low temperatures, snow and rain for extended periods.May come into contact with sewage and dead animals. May be exposed to bees/stings and other environmental allergens.
Position is full time (39 hours per week), temporary, non benefits eligible. Rate of pay is $18.53 per hour with potential overtime opportunities.
Start time: Normally 6:00 or 7:00 am.

What we need:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Some working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the construction or labor trade.
Excellent interpersonal (oral and written) skills in order to interact with a diverse range of people.
Self -motivated with ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
A strong customer service orientation while providing a helpful and friendly approach to serving the campus community.

Two seasons of demonstrated work experience with construction maintenance, landscape construction, or related field.
Formal training in the construction field, and/or equipment operation helpful.
