The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell University's second-largest college. The Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station (Cornell AES) links Cornell's world-class research farms and plant growth facilities with one of the nation's most comprehensive statewide cooperative extension systems. Through this engaged, interactive system, we address pressing issues that directly affect the health and welfare of the state, and beyond.
We are seeking temporary seasonal harvesters who will work under the direction of the Orchard Manager. Specific expectations are as follows:
- Harvesting apples and other fruit
- Sorting fruit, packaging/boxing fruit
- Delivering product
- Pruning trees
Three (3) positions are available.
These are full-time positions (39 hours/week) from September 2024 through November 2024. Expected schedule is 8:00-4:30 Mon-Thurs, 8:00-3:30 Friday.
Required Qualifications:
* High School Diploma.
* Punctual attendance is a must.
* Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
* Ability to work on ladders or mobile platforms up to 8 feet high.
* Must be able to work diligently under varying weather conditions (e.g., rain, cold, heat).
* Excellent communication skills
* Possess excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to pay attention to detail.
* Must have general competence in performing manual labor.
* Possess and demonstrate a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and work well within a small-team environment.
This temporary position is not benefits eligible. Pay range is $16.50 - $17.00 per hour.
No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
