The Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station links Cornell's world-class research farms and plant growth facilities with one of the nation s most comprehensive statewide cooperative extension systems. Through this engaged, interactive system we address pressing issues that directly affect the health and welfare of the state, and beyond.
We are seeking several temporary seasonal harvesters who will work under the direction of the Orchard Manager. Specific expectations are as follows:
* Safely and efficiently picking and handling/sorting of orchard produce, including diverse varieties of apples, grapes, pears, and other specialty fruits.
THIS IS A FULL-TIME (39 HOURS/WEEK) TWO-MONTH APPOINTMENT LOCATED IN ITHACA, NEW YORK.
* High School Diploma.
* Punctual attendance is a must.
* Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
* Ability to work on ladders or mobile platforms up to 8 feet high.
* Must be able to work diligently under varying weather conditions (e.g. rain, cold, heat).
* Good communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
* Must have general competence with performing manual labor,
* Possess and demonstrate a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and work well within a small-team environment.
