The Salvation Army Secretary/Social Services (Jamaica Citadel Corps Temporary Position) in Jamaica, New York
Overview
A Secretary/ Social Services is responsible to organizing files, preparing documents, managing supplies inventory and scheduling appointments. The Corps secretary reports to the Corps officers.

Responsibilities
Answer telephone and direct calls appropriately
Greet people entering organization, direct clients to the correct destination
Taking notes in Staff Meetings, Advisory Council Meetings and the like, as assigned
Keep general office area in good order and maintain orderly computer files and back-
Monitors security camera videos and reports any suspicious activity to the supervisor or the administration
Keeping records according to Officers instructions
Filling clients’ applications, calling other agencies and providing referrals to
Assisting in maintain files in order, making copies, Computer work, maintenance and update of client files, reports, flyers, assisting with thank you letters and cards, maintaining neat office area.
Assisting in the Corps Back to School program, Thanksgiving and Christmas
Sorting toys and assisting the toy’s
Decoration and posting of bulletin boards and keeping up with the seasons
Keeps up-to-date records and statistics as required
Preparing Staff meeting
Reports to work well-groomed and in compliance with dress
Assist with all aspects of the Food Pantry operation (including ordering, client appointments, organization, and cleanliness), as directed by the Corps Officers
Supervise the Corps feeding program
Develop and maintain accurate case files for clients
Assist with translation for oral or written communications as
Assist with any other areas as assigned by Corps Officers

Qualifications
High School Diploma Required; Associate Degree Preferred
Fluent in Bilingual preferred
Must be able to use Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint
Must be punctual and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Must be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently
Ability to maintain thehighest standard of professionalismandconfidentiality
