Investment & Derivatives – Manager – Global Treasury - Financial Accounting & Advisory – Multiple Locations

The Opportunity

Our Investments and Treasury Services Team assists our clients achieve their investment middle office, back office and accounting operations across a wide variety of asset classes, including derivatives, alternative assets, fixed income and equities. We have a broad range of capabilities to assist including but not limited to cash and collateral, valuation, accounting and reporting. As a Manager in our Investment and Treasury Services team, you will manage and execute these complex engagements.

As a manager, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee service delivery, people and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, to assist in solving complex business issues using data, analysis, experience, and judgment. Your key responsibilities

  • Assist our clients in developing a target operating model for investments or derivatives and hedging including accounting, reporting and operational considerations

  • Assist clients' key stakeholders (including senior management) in designing new processes or refining their processes and controls for investments (including securities, alternatives, mortgages) and derivatives and hedging (including economic hedging and hedge accounting)

  • Perform strategy development for economic hedging and hedge accounting including scenario analysis

  • Review reports, account reconciliations, analysis and documentation of investment-related general ledger income statement and balance sheet accounts.

  • Execution of the investment accounting and/or derivatives and hedge accounting functions of our clients utilizing our managed services offerings

  • Define business and functional requirements for investment accounting & derivatives and hedging systems and assist clients with vendor and provider assessments

  • Implement investment accounting & derivatives and hedging systems including defining test scripts/scenarios and performing user acceptance testing

  • Assist improving client's operations around the end-to-end investment accounting & derivatives processes by performing assessments, providing findings and recommendations, and assisting with remediation and process improvement

  • Utilize emerging and approved suite of technologies (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI and other analytical tools) to assist client in making data driven and strategic decisions

  • Articulate and contribute technical knowledge in area of specialism (e.g., investment products including ESG assets, emerging technologies, derivative products including swaps, options, futures, forwards, caps, floors, fixed income instruments, equities, and alternative assets)

  • Prepare and review of regulatory and management reports

  • Ensure products/deliverables meet contract/work plan specifications and deadlines

  • Lead and manage engagements as a senior team member to include: project and resource planning, budget management, execution of work plan and client relationship management

  • Lead the proposal development process and participate in pursuit team for prospective engagements

  • Support and lead business development and practice development initiatives

  • Oversee engagement economics and manage appropriate resources for efficient engagement models

  • Maintain a strong client focus by being responsive to client requests and developing/maintaining productive working relationships with client personnel

  • Collaborate with the partner and client to determine a strategy that appropriately addresses risk and manages client expectations relating to deliverables

  • Understand the client's industry and recognize key performance drivers, business trends and industry developments

  • Ensure work is delivered timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Develop and maintain strong networks, both internally and externally, and work with other service lines in providing an integrated service delivery

Skills and attributes for success

  • Familiarity with investment derivatives platforms and systems (e.g., Investran, BlackRock Aladdin, PAM/ePAM, SS&C CAMRA, Clearwater, Murex, Summit, Calypso) or similar investment and derivatives systems

  • High level of motivation and initiative, ability to work independently, including strong organizational and management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills

  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once, to prioritize appropriately, and to approach the work with a sense of urgency and strong attention to detail to produce high quality results in a time sensitive environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels within the organization.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 6 plus years of related work experience.

  • CPA or CTP

  • Advanced skills and experience with investment accounting, financial reporting, or derivative and hedging.

  • Knowledge of financial instruments, including fixed income, loans, alternative investments, derivatives (including swaps, options, futures, forwards)

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $109,400 to $200,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $131,300 to $227,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
