Financial Services Talent Consultant Assistant Director
The Talent Consultant Assistant Director manages Human Resource (HR) activities in a national practice, service line or region. Works closely with business leaders to implement people strategies and programs. This position may participate in the design and implementation of people programs and processes. Responsible for addressing and resolving increasing complex employee inquiries on a wide range of HR topics from employee relations to compensation. Position is responsible for determining which issues can be resolved and which need to be escalated to more senior members of the Talent Team.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Manage the HR activities in a select National Practice, Service Line or region. Position typically has responsibility for a population that is a homogenous or geographically centralized client group.
Serves as the tactical front-line support to customer groups. May provide some strategic level support for functional leadership on people initiatives.
Handles/resolves employee relations issues that are complex, with moderate risk. Escalates to senior team members as appropriate
Responsible for the effective implementation of high quality HR processes (including but not limited to: compensation, performance management, career development, etc.)
Contribute to workforce planning activities in terms of understanding capability, skills development, pipeline etc. of a particular SL/BU and input into workforce planning conversations with Senior/Lead Talent Consultant and/or Strategic Talent Consultant
Use data analytics to provide insight on trends, potential areas for concern and to make recommendations based on information provided
Consults on and understand the implications of future demands on current talent services; share information and work with other talent functions as needed to adapt to any changes
Partner with business in the planning and delivery of large-scale transformations/restructures, mergers & acquisitions
Implements or executes change management initiatives to facilitate smooth implementation of people related programs or processes
Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of change initiatives and makes informed recommendations to leadership
May lead and/or participate in medium to large projects
Shares best practices and mentor others
May supervise and/or mentor other team members
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
Responsible for interpreting data related to headcount, salary, budgets, etc.
Assesses situations to determine risk mitigation and escalates to appropriate parties (e.g. Investigations Team, General Counsel Office (GCO), Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), etc.
May provide input on organizational restructuring, staffing, leadership assessments or other key HR business initiatives
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Solid knowledge of HR law & practices
Ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the firm
Solid project management and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Attention to detail
Ability to quickly learn the business of the firm
Ability to influence multiple constituents
Solid networking skills and the ability to build relationships
Solid understanding of internal practices and procedures
Works independently on recurring projects
Seeks guidance on increasingly complex projects or employee issues
Manages medium to large projects
- Travel may be required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of experience Certification
- May have Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification or Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) certification but not required.
