The opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager for the Family Office Services (FOS) practice who will be responsible for managing staff and engagements and reviewing financial statements and the related accounting/write up of cash/non-cash activity. The Manager will support the FOS Partner, Managing Director and Senior Manager levels. This person will have exposure to sophisticated financial reporting concepts and strategies and will be involved in the monitoring of such strategies. The Manager will have client contact and will be the main point of contact in some cases.
Your key responsibilities
You will review financial statements for high-net-worth individuals and their related family entities, which would include analyzing and reviewing bank/brokerage accounts as well as private equity and hedge fund capital statements. You will also be supporting the Partner, Managing Director and Senior Manager levels in fulfilling consulting/coordination services as requested by clients. In addition, you will be managing personnel to ensure workflow is progressing and managing budgeting/billing/Administrative items to ensure engagement economics are met.
Additional responsibilities include the following:
Understand key elements of client care and service
Find ways to simplify and improve work processes
Recognize business issues and uses alternative solutions to resolve them.
Look for ways to increase efficiency on engagement
Seek to enhance knowledge through technical reading, continuing education, etc
Manages risk at the engagement level, while still focusing on high-quality service.
Skills and attributes for success:
Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, Quickbooks
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple commitments
Ability to perform under time constraints and meet deadlines; strong sense of urgency
Excellent organizational and communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with all levels of the engagement team and client personnel
Understands client’s financial situation
Is mindful of budgets and proactively works with the team to keep within budget or identify scope changes which require communication with the client
Educational background in accounting, taxation, finance, business or experience working in a family office
Promotes a professional and positive attitude
Takes ownership of work product and client engagement
Successful problem-solving and analytical skills
Detail oriented
Identifies issues and offers solutions and recommendations
Supports firm goals, policies, and guidelines
To qualify for the role, you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting
5 years of practical accounting experience
CPA/EA/ certified bookkeeper or ability to pass any within one year of hire;
Ideally, you’ll also have:
Proven leadership skills
Experience working alongside colleagues at all levels of business

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $94,100 to $172,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $112,900 to $196,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
