When you join PPGNY as the Coordinator of Survivor Support Services you will be responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and enhancing services provided through the Survivor Support Services programs at PPGNY.
Additional responsibilities include:
Assist in developing and implementing an outreach plan to raise awareness about crime victims and available services in the community.
Coordinate multicounty events related to crime victim awareness including crime victims’ week and sexual assault awareness month.
Facilitate sexual assault prevention education to children, adolescents, and adults in schools, colleges and community-based organizations.
Work with area hospitals, law enforcement, human services, etc. to coordinate advocacy and supportive services in the designated county.
Direct Services
Provide crisis intervention, emotional support and guidance, and advocacy services to crime victims of sexual assault as needed.
Assist in developing and/or coordinating supportive/therapeutic activities to individuals and groups.
Share direct service duties like staffing the 24-hour hotline periodically, assisting with support groups, etc.
Help develop initial case plans and ongoing strategies for advocacy.
Attend court hearings when possible and track court dates.
Aid in completing crime victim compensation applications.
Administrative
Keep service data, create reports about funded projects, and meet other project objectives according to grant specifications.
Maintain case files.
Assist in preparing monthly & quarterly statistical reports.
Provide office coverage as assigned.
Attend staff meetings and assist in the evaluation of the program.
Participate in program planning.
Assist Program Manager in developing and maintaining community-agency relations.
Perform other duties as assigned within a team-based work environment.
Volunteer Coordination
Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer staff.
Coordinate volunteer coverage of 24-hour Crisis Hotline, to include evenings and weekends.
Provide assistance and consultation for volunteers as needed or when requested.
Participate in volunteer evaluation.
Maintain statistics for the volunteer program activities and services.
Coordinate volunteer recognition events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a Bachelor’s degree plus two to four years, Associate’s degree plus four to seven years, or High School degree plus seven to ten year’s relevant experience including Women’s Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Counseling/Advocacy, or Rape Crisis/Victim Services
The ability to communicate with and empower staff and volunteers to be effective in their roles
Ability to work effectively across differences
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and case management responsibilities; human behavior and needs at times of crime and crisis; behavioral health, social services, and other community resources; the criminal justice system, NYS Criminal Code, and Rights of victims, police department operations, policies, and procedures.
NYS Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle required.
Ability to travel as required

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
