Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES School System Library Media Specialist in Johnstown, New York
The HFM BOCES School Library System has an opening for a School System Library Media Specialist. This is a 10-month position with up to 10 days in the summer, if needed, with supervisor approval. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide library services and assistance to component schools and internal programs.
Provide training in the use of existing or emerging technologies.
Provide reference and consultation services for system libraries
Assist with professional development, committee activities, and advocacy efforts.
Work both independently and collaboratively with school library media specialists.
Co-teaching collaboration with school librarians
Other responsibilities as assigned
The successful candidate will be a service-oriented, intellectually curious teacher-librarian to help advance the information and media literacy and diversity, equity and inclusion goals of our SLS Community. They will be future-oriented, motivated, well-organized, creative and enthusiastic.
Job Qualifications
All applicants must hold, be eligible or working on a NYS certification as a School Library Media Specialist. A certified teacher willing to work on School Library certification is also eligible. A teacher currently working on their library degree is eligible for an internship certification. Experience with instructional technologies is preferred. TEACH Clearance
Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
