Description
The Arc Mid-Hudson, recognized as a leader in our field and one of the largest employers in the Hudson Valley, has a new opportunity for a Financial Accountant.
Located in our Administrative offices in Kingston, this seasoned professional will report to the Director of Finance. Primary job responsibilities include but are not limited to, performing general accounting functions, reconciliations, preparation of internal and external reports, use of various accounting software and research of accounting issues and standards.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing ad hoc reports and special assignments as assigned by the CFO or Director of Finance.
Preparing analysis of actual revenue and expenses incurred versus the budget for the period with explanations
Completing the month-end closing process including journal entries, allocations and research of budget variances as needed
Assisting with the preparation of the monthly financials as necessary.
Reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts monthly with supporting work papers.
Reconciling and preparing payroll and fringe benefit-related reporting
Assisting with the preparation of the yearly budget and projections.
Preparing year-end audit work papers as assigned by Director of Finance.
Working with the Director of Finance on rate analyses and ensuring the correct recognition of revenue for the various funding sources
Assisting with the preparation of the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR).
Review program expenses monthly for non-allowable items and improper coding ensuring trends are reasonable.
HOURS: 40/Monday through Friday/day hours
STARTING SALARY: $65,000 to $80,000 per year, based on relevant experience and education
Minimum Requirements
BS Degree in Accounting required with 5+ years accounting experience (non-profit industry and/or auditing background preferred but not necessary)
Collaborative, hands-on style with colleagues at all levels required.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be experienced in and able to demonstrate proficiency with computerized software applications.
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
