Sunmark Credit Union 1925-Member Relationship Manager-Credit in Latham, New York

Our Consumer Lending team is hiring! This position is in our Latham Call Center.

We are seeking a highly motivated Member Relationship Manager to help lead our fast paced credit and underwriting team!

This position is exempt/salaried on a bi-weekly basis. Eligible for quarterly bonus based on team performance goals.

Call Center Business Hours: (Must have availability to work within the hours listed)

Monday, Tuesday 8-5pm, Wednesday 8/9:30-5pm, Thursday & Friday 8-6pm, Saturday 9-1pm.

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the Credit/Underwriting and Sales teams.

  1. Manages and develops Loan Sales Processor, Credit Consultants Sales Development Specialists, and Assistant Member Relationship Manager Credit to provide WOW service with each interaction with credit union members. Ensure that members’ needs are handled accurately and efficiently. Analyzes and resolves members’ problems and concerns. Implement process improvements to increase member satisfaction working with other departments and managers as needed.

  2. Establish and communicate sales goals in alignment with credit union objectives. Ensure achievement of individual, and team goals by all staff. Train and develop staff, to maximize their success. Conducts performance appraisals for assigned staff.

  3. Trains staff to self-generate loans. Teach assigned staff to review credit reports ensuring they identify opportunities to improve member’s financial position by refinancing existing credit obligations through Sunmark. Manage and oversee MSC's loan production in such a way that Sunmark's loan portfolio is improved. Make recommendations to Senior Management for adjustments to underwriting guidelines based upon analysis of MSC loans and closure rates.

  4. Reviews, evaluates and renders decision on loans within the lending guidelines established by the Board of Directors, to include approvals, denials and counteroffers. Ensures that applications are accurate, complete and that a decision is rendered to the member within acceptable time, while the member is still on the phone whenever possible. Ensures that all loan applications are thoroughly reviewed to include credit bureau reports, with the intent of maximizing approval options including cross sell opportunities. Conducts quality reviews of loan decisions ensuring that credit union policies and procedures are followed. Provides feedback to staff and AVP of MSC. Notes trends and provides additional training as required. Approves loans for non-certified lenders as well as those requiring higher limits up to the Member Relationship Manager Credit’s lending authority.

  5. Work with staff to ensure the credit union goals for ancillary loan products are achieved. Train loan officers on the availability and value of payment protection through items, including but not limited to, credit life and disability and GAP protection. Ensures members are offered this protection with every loan. Prepares monthly promotions to increase sales of credit union products and services.

  6. Interview, select, and train staff for all areas of the solution center that directly report to you. Develop and maintain effective training for all MSC areas. Work with other Departments to include relevant information. Provide timely refreshers as needed for items that are seasonal in nature.

  7. Actively participates in development of new products and changes that impact the lending and sales development areas. Plan and implement training as needed for the credit union staff. Provide analysis to AVP of MSC, showing penetration and improvement resulting from these projects.

  8. Completes accurate reports necessary to track all data required to effectively manage MSC. Analyze information and suggest improvements.

  9. Assist AVP of MSC to maximize effectiveness of credit union initiatives.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  1. A.A.S. Degree in Finance/Business with 2-4 years prior related experience or a High School diploma or equivalent plus at least 4+ year’s related experience;

  2. A minimum of 2 years previous supervisory experience;

  3. Strong Sales Experience;

  4. Aptitude with figures and the ability to work well under pressure;

  5. Above average interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others including exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace;

  6. Strong computer skills/proficiency required;

  7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
