Plug Power Stack Engineer Intern in Latham, New York

Summer Internship Status: Non-Exempt (hourly) Department: 389 Stack Engineering Location: Latham, NY Position Summary Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Intern. The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Stack Engineering Department in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of the department's projects. In this role, learn on how to create test plans to evaluate stacks, work on stack test stations and learn the instrumentation involved, how to control the test parameters, check the veracity of data, do data analysis and draw conclusions. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program. Project Summary The focus will be on various product development projects for stacks including testing and evaluating performance and durability of stacks. Core Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data Assist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management Mechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessary Ability to independently set up experiments and monitor progress Understand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projects Ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions Perform all other duties as assigned Education and Qualification Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or a related program. Basic fundamentals of mechanical and/or chemical engineering Understanding of mechanical and/or chemical engineering fundamentals. Previous hands on experience with hardware like working on cars or similar Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferred Must have reliable transportation to the office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Background/experience with statistical analysis Possess solid hands-on approach to problem-solving Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail Excellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivated Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality Plug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
