Job Description
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Real Simple digital team at Meredith offers clever and practical tips for simplifying a woman's busy life. We seek a passionate, skilled, seasoned Senior SEO Editor to oversee our SEO editorial workflow. The ideal candidate must be an experienced digital editor and writer with a deep understanding of SEO, and a passion for food, home, finance, health, holidays, entertaining, style, and lifestyle content. This role will report to the deputy editor.

You must be a college graduate with a degree in Journalism or related field, and have 5 to 8 years digital experience.

You will have oversight of the Real Simple SEO workflow and business critical editorial content.

You will be responsible for working closely with the edit team and SEO manager to ideate, assign, edit, write, and optimize content with the goal of increasing search traffic.

The ideal candidate will have incredible writing, editing, and brainstorming skills, and a deep understanding of SEO best practices and keyword research tools, such as SEMRush. You should have a proven track record of creating content that drives traffic and engagement, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.

II. Essential Job Functions

SEO Editorial Workflow
Work closely with SEO manager to identify new content and optimization opportunities
Perform keyword research and create a monthly SEO-driven editorial calendar
Use analytics to help guide content ideation and creation
Assign business critical SEO stories to vertical editors
Commission new SEO content with keyword direction
Monitor search performance and trends
Report weekly metrics on trending content across

Writing and Editing
Write and/or optimize at least 3 stories per day across all content verticals
Edit assigned SEO content to ensure objectives and best practices are met

Cross-Team Collaboration
Provide SEO support for editorial staff
Collaborate with SEO, social, design, newsletter, and print departments

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 8 years of digital experience.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Incredible writing, editing, and brainstorming skills
Deep understanding of SEO best practices and keyword research tools such as a SEMRush
A proven track record of creating content that drives traffic and engagement
A strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
A strategic thinker who considers traffic and analytics before making an editorial decision
An idea generator who can think of new, fresh ways to package content
Excellent people skills
