Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracue Inc Full Time Merchandise selection Pre -Sorter in Liverpool, New York
The Rescue Mission is looking for full time pre-sorters at our warehouse. This position prepares items for sale by sorting the better quality items to be sold in the stores and separating seasonal items by assessing all items by category (metal, toys, clothing, shoes, house ware, books, misc., etc.), condition (brand new items are a definite, good working order vs. broken items), and uniqueness (antiques, ornate/unusual items, stand-alone items); packing good items into cardboard boxes and then place into bric-brac carts and/or Gaylords with larger items being packed as is; each sorter is responsible to pack a minimum of 4 bric-brac carts or Gaylords per 8 hours at the their station, with bric-brac carts shrink wrapped and initialed when full and then pushed to the back of the warehouse in a designated area. Gaylords are to be covered with linen, initialed, and pallet jacked to a designated area. It was also meet established production quotas by emptying cages/Gaylord boxes of donations efficiently. They will meet sorting requirements by sorting a minimum of 20 cages/Gaylords per 8 hours, maintain a neat station at all times (swept, stocked, and organized), and empty and replenish full Gaylords of shoes and pallets jacks to designated areas.
Education & Experience Requirements
·High school diploma or GED certificate preferred
·Prior experience in production warehouse or retail setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position
·Willingness to learn new skills as needed
·Ability to work in a changing environment – flexible to new assignments
·Passion for the mission and vision of the organization
·Must be at least 18 years of age
·Job requires lifting and bending
·Ability to use arms to sort a variety of items
·Pushing heavy carts and racks
·Must be able to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours
·Visual sorting ability to hear over loud machinery (Balers, Garbage packer, Forklift, Trucks)
·Cleaning required (break room as assigned, individual station)
·Ladder climbing and clothes hanging (when necessary)
·Must meet established production quotas as established by Supervisor
·Must maintain a neat station at all times (swept, stocked, and organized)
