Centene Corporation Intern (Health Plan Operations - Graduate - Summer) in Long Island City, New York

Overview:

  • Interns will become knowledgeable in various operational/business processes and strategic management/implementation, as well as develop a broad understanding of the managed care industry.

  • Interns will be placed with a member of senior leadership who will function as their preceptor and mentor for the duration of the program.

  • Interns will work closely with the assigned team to support the business units and their associated initiatives.

  • The intern will also assist the team with managing major components of strategic and process improvement initiatives.

  • Our interns will have ample opportunity to network with department leaders and other professionals across functional areas, and will be encouraged to work with the preceptor to pursue projects in an area of particular interest to them.

Job functions may include:

  • Data analysis and regulatory research support

  • Process improvement

  • Financial analysis

  • Ad hoc projects

Position Purpose:

  • Learn various job functions within the Managed Care industry and explore various career opportunities

  • Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects

  • Communicate project status and results to staff mentors and management

  • Research various legal, regulatory, and other topics within functional area and industry

  • Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies

Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.

Experience/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree. Must be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited university or college in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in Master’s degree program (Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Finance)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignment

  • Creative and flexible

  • Familiarity with the Managed Care / Healthcare industry

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills and not afraid to take initiative
