Andromeda Advantage Inc Manager of Workforce Training and Client Engagement in Long Island City, New York

The Andromeda Community Initiative (ACI) is a nonprofit workforce development entity providing free hands-on and certification driving training in green/energy-efficient construction and general construction/masonry to persons seeking to escape poverty through employment in the industry. Headquartered in Long Island City, New York, ACI provides quality training and workforce development programming imparted by subject matter experts to persons in criminal justice reentry, overcoming homelessness, cycles of welfare dependence and other barriers as well as job placement and internship support, bridging the gap between companies in need of qualified workers and individuals seeking quality, career ladder employment. ACI is seeking a dedicated and passionate Manager of Workforce Training and Client Engagement to oversee the day to day operations of outreach, training, vocational counseling and client aftercare including job retention support and client driven employment verification.

Essential Functions: Reporting to ACI’s Director of Program and Operations, The ideal candidate will be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who possesses a Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification although social workers without a SIFI, Certified Rehabilitation Counselors and seasoned workforce professionals will be considered. This experienced professional will bring a background in social services, program and staff operations, and community engagement. They will work closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds to ensure effective workforce training and client support while fostering partnerships with community-based organizations to enhance program enrollments, outcomes, and client success.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

  • Oversee program outreach, training (including skills training and job readiness training), vocational and retention counseling, social service referrals, and data tracking of participant attendance and participation.

  • Directly supervise staff, consisting of two skill/certification trainers in construction, a Vocational Coordinator, and a to-be-hired Outreaching and Training Helper. This involves growing and developing their client support and case management skills, ensuring appropriate partnership and case conferencing with job placement staff, and providing for appropriate daily execution of client and data focused duties.

  • Provide for the appropriate daily oversight of consultant trainers through regular check-ins, observation and assistance.

  • Supervise regular pattern of resume production, client post training surveys, participant retention/post training calling by Vocational Coordinator. Ensure regular training assessments through standing forms and approaches.

  • Design work-readiness training interventions and exercises that can be implemented by existing staff during available hours in ACI’s 5 and 8-week trainings.

  • Grow ACI’s referral sources and, where necessary, assist in conducting outreach and screening, to make sure we are identifying the most appropriate individuals for our skill focused intervention and ensure appropriate follow up with and reporting to all partnering organizations.

  • Assist the Director of Programs and Operations and Executive Director with financial invoicing, reporting, purchasing, and employee time tracking.

  • Maintain data accuracy for outreach, enrollments and completions, in ACI systems, funder databases, and third-party verification platforms.

  • Compile data and write reports for government and foundation contracts.

  • As qualifications allow, design and implement/clinically supervise pilot programming which will allow for further counseling support by graduate level Social Work interns.

    Day to Day Operations & Client Support

  • Manage daily operations of training, including time and attendance, participation, and break and lunch coverage, to ensure successful trainings and participant engagement.

  • Provide support and counseling (through reporting staff or personally as appropriate) to participants (at both the training and follow-up stages of the program) who are: in-crisis, facing significant barriers, or exhibiting issues of inappropriate conduct, participation, attendance, and participation. Issue performance improvement plans to clients where necessary and determine when removal from the program is warranted. Develop staff skill sets in coaching and communicating positive guidance to participants.

  • In conjunction with Director of Programs and Operations and leadership of our job placement, participate and lead regular case conferences among staff to determine appropriate handling of individuals in training and post graduation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker ((LCSW) with SIFI preferred. Social workers without a SIFI, Certified Rehabilitation Counselors and seasoned workforce professionals will also be considered.

  • Experience in/with a training or workforce development environment.

  • Demonstrated skills in staff supervision, program coordination and management.

  • Clinical or counseling experience in client-facing roles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and data analysis.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive simultaneous projects.

  • Familiarity with outcome management and client level data/performance tracking.

  • Commitment to ACI’s mission and values.

  • Experience using Gmail, Google Suites, LookerStudio

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred but not required

    Work Environment/Start Date: The position is available January 2025. It is 100% in-person other than with respect to expected and necessary fieldwork including outreach and recruitment.

    Salary and Benefits: $65,000-$83,000 Depending on experience. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), PTO
