Siena College is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor position to teach a summer 2024 graduate course, EDUC 540: Psychology of Teaching with Lab. See course description and meeting times below. Note, this position is for the EDUC 540 Teaching Lab.

EDUC 540: Psychology of Teaching with Lab. The Psychology of Teaching is a foundational introduction to teaching: audience, planning, instruction, basic concepts, standards, classroom management, assessment, motivation, discipline, and ethical and professional considerations. Theories of learning and memory applied to instruction; models and research on teaching in secondary schools. Includes thematic analysis of relevant teaching topics such as special needs, differentiated instruction, human development, and foundations of education. In Psychology of Teaching Microteaching Laboratory graduate students prepare and present several lessons using a variety of instructional models. Models include anticipatory sets, discussion concepts, skills and inquiry with attention paid to themes such as special needs, differentiated instruction, literacy, second language, learners and service learning. Lessons are digitally recorded and critiqued by peer-coaches and laboratory faculty.

EDUC 540 is set to meet from July 8 to August 16, 2024 on M/T/TH/F 1:00-5:00. Classes are in person.

Salary $1,287.50 per contact hour

The hiring salary above represent the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.

Job Requirements:

Candidates should have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Education or related field and exhibit a commitment to undergraduate and graduate liberal arts education. Demonstrated knowledge of New York State and national teaching standards required. Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred.

A background screening will be required.
