Siena College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health Professions Student Support Specialist to join our team of academic professionals in the School of Science. This is a 10-month position with direct student support from August through May. In this role, you will advise health professions students and work closely with the health professions team to develop and carry out informative programming for students to explore careers in various healthcare fields. As a Health Professions Student Support Specialist, you will play a key role in guiding our nursing, health studies, and pre-health career students on their academic and career journeys. Assisting students through their development toward graduate programs or careers in health-related fields, you will guide them through exploration of various healthcare careers, advise them towards meeting major and professional program requirements, help provide understanding of the appropriate graduate academic program requirements, and provide application process assistance. As part of the health professions team, you will also help with recruitment, on-campus programming, and alumni engagement. Salary: $49,500.00 - 10-month position

Job Responsibilities:
Academic Advising: Provide comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate students in pre-health fields such as nursing, health studies, and general pre-health students pursuing graduate and professional post-baccalaureate programs. Assist students in selecting courses, developing academic plans, and tracking progress toward degree completion.
Career Guidance: Offer guidance and resources to students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare, public health, research, or related fields. Help students explore internship and experiential learning opportunities.
Program Development: Collaborate with faculty and department chairs to develop and refine the health professions program. Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure program relevance.
Student Support: Address the academic and personal needs of students, including referring them to appropriate campus resources for additional support.
Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among pre-health students through organizing events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
Data Analysis: Maintain accurate records of student progress and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in the advising process.
Job Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as health studies, public health, or a related discipline.
· Experience in academic advising or a related student support role.
· Knowledge of healthcare and public health career paths and opportunities.
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred qualifications:
· A Master's degree.
· Familiarity with liberal arts education.
· Knowledge of best practices in student advising.
· Experience in developing programs and organizing events.
· Data collection, entry, and analysis.
A background screening will be required.
