Dairy Health & Management Services Consultant Assistant in Lowville, New York

The duties of a consultant assistant include all activities associated with assisting with the delivery of Dairy Health consulting, research, and technical services. The responsibilities and requirements of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Perform field work:
Collect and process samples from animals, feedstuffs and other materials
Prosect carcasses for digital necropsy and provide training for this procedure
Perform analytical procedures
Record monitoring data for routine farm activities, including milking and feeding
Perform milking system and parlor efficiency evaluations
Coordinate and assist in training sessions for farm employees
Work with large data sets: enter and verify data
Assist consultants in the daily monitoring of health and production performance of client dairies
Serve as a direct link of communication between Dairy Health consultants and clients
Work effectively with team members to accomplish tasks
Comply with applicable safety procedures
Other duties as assigned

Minimum of an Associate's degree in animal science, veterinary science, natural or physical science, or related field. Advanced degrees and/or training preferred
Interest in and experience with dairy production, cattle handling, and animal care
Experience in data management. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Demonstrated ability to exhibit individual initiative and work independently, be technically proficient and accurate, possess effective verbal and written communication skills and be attentive to detail
Willingness to work under outdoor weather conditions in all seasons
Willingness to work flexible hours, occasional weekend days, and make occasional extended daytrips
Possess a valid driver's license and willingness to drive
Proficiency in Spanish is an asset

Part-time, permanent position
