*Position Summary: *College and Career Exploration Instructor is responsible for assisting the Director of Workplace Development in the adolescence employment program Work, Learn & Grow and other Corporate Exposure Initiatives. The College and Career Exploration Instructor will also assist in the development of work readiness programs that help support teens in their pathway to college and career goals. This includes developing internships, creating job shadowing experiences and job development pre and post College graduation.

Responsibilities: *Under the direct supervision of the Director of Workplace Development, the College and Career Exploration Instructor responsibilities include the following:*

  • To develop and coordinate the College and Career Exploration experience for all teens enrolled.

  • To identify, work with and support all strategic partners associated with our College and Career Exploration efforts.

  • To process, pay and evaluate all aspects of the College and Career Exploration efforts.

  • To hire a seasonal team each year that will support all College and Career Exploration Efforts.

  • To identify opportunities for staff development to ensure that our efforts are cutting edge.

  • Provide team members leadership and direction throughout the different phases of the summer including but not limited to: enrollment, job placement, worksite visits, payroll and data management.

  • Serve as parent and participant liaison to effectively resolve concerns regarding payroll, placement and/or other program policies and procedures.

  • Administer internal audits for all employment program files and documents in preparation for yearly City and State audits.

  • Maintain and establish contacts with non-profit and for-profit companies, department stores and franchises for the purpose of creating internships and summer worksites.

  • Represent and promote employment programs at school fairs to increase applicant numbers.

  • Attend monthly DYCD meetings and trainings and relay pertinent information to colleagues.

  • Organize and facilitate staff orientations and training sessions to enhance program productivity.

  • To identify, develop and maintain worksites for winter employment and year-round internships.

  • To facilitate work readiness workshops to teens served by the Division.

  • To facilitate workshops related to hiring and eligibility guidelines.

  • To facilitate workshops to attract worksites.

  • To identify potential internship opportunities for teens.

  • To develop strategies that connects jobs and careers.

  • To review participant resumes and provide feedback.

  • Assist in overseeing participant worksite information as it relates to Divisional work readiness programs including WLG and workforce related databases.

  • Review applicant resumes and interview candidates for summer staff positions.

  • Prepare and maintain employment records related to events such as hiring and termination.

  • Monitor time and attendance for part-time program staff and prepare payroll in timely manner.

  • Maintain youth internship program attendance and generate attendance analysis reports.

  • Attend database management trainings as required by funders and/or agency.


  • At least 5 years of experience in the youth development field and/or work readiness. **

  • Knowledge and experience with work readiness curriculum. **

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, required.**
