Police Athletic League SYEP Education Coordinator in Manhattan, New York
The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.
We are looking for a part-time Education Coordinator who will be responsible for enhancing the DYCD SYEP Education curriculum by incorporating presentations, guest speakers, and age-appropriate activities to maintain participant engagement. The Education Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting each participant in completing a resume.
This position is available in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Bronx. Schedule 30-35 Hours/week.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Model and uphold all Agency rules.
Work with the DYCD curriculum to create informative and exciting workshops for the SYEP Program participants.
Work with the Program Supervisor to oversee the implementation of DYCD orientation and the Hats and Ladders curriculum
Address problems or issues that arise and work to resolve conflicts.
Assist the program participants with creating resumes
Submit written and verbal reports as requested.
Work collaboratively and professionally with a varied group of colleagues
Create and update spreadsheets as needed
Responsible for maintaining communication with program participants
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Some College Required.
Experience in lesson planning.
Teaching/Facilitating experience a plus.
Strong background in youth development
Experience working with students of various ages.
Proficient in basic computer applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Must be a team player.
Must be able to multitask in a high volume atmosphere
