Leviton Intern, Project Engineering (year-round) in Melville, New York

Overview

Department: Residential Engineering

Mentor's Title: Manager of Engineering

Start Date: As soon as possible

Anticipated Duration: Continuous throughout the year (flexible, P/T schedule during the semester, F/T during the summer, M-F 9am-5pm)

Responsibilities
  • Create, edit and review bills of materials
  • Perform impact analysis for component and product changes
  • Prepare engineering change order documentation
  • Capture in meeting minutes information discussed during project meetings
  • Assist other project engineers to track project information (including schedule, tooling, components, cost, risks, issues, lessons learned, and status)
  • Assist in testing product prototypes
  • Assist in project reporting
  • Assist in maintenance of project schedules including tracking of outstanding work
  • Assist in electronic component maintenance
  • Development and documentation of department procedures
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Must be currently working towards a BS or MS in Engineering, Business or Project Management degree and be at least a sophomore or higher

Skills & Abilities

  • Must be familiar with word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Must have good organization skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of MS Project, MS Excel macros, and/or VB script a plus

Work Schedule:

  • Variable based on student schedule
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week
