Grant Thornton LLP Partnership Tax Senior Associate - Investment Funds in Melville, New York

As the Partnership Tax Senior Associate - Investment Funds in our Asset Management practice works closely with staff on all phases of project and engagement management for Private Equity, Private Equity Fund of Funds, and Hedge Funds. The Tax Senior Associate is primarily responsible for reviewing partnership and corporate tax returns; developing and supervising staff; and assisting in client management and practice development activities.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed.

  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process.

  • Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to review/ process returns and research tax matters.

  • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Masters in Tax required

  • CPA and/or advanced tax degree (J.D., L.L.M or MST) preferred.

  • Two to four years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience

  • Experience in public accounting specifically related to Private Equity Funds and/or Hedge Funds a plus.

  • Tax return review experience, including partnership and corporate income tax returns. Experience preparing State tax returns (including withholding and composite returns) and International Tax Forms (e.g. Forms 8621, 1042/1042-S, 8865, and 5471) a plus.

  • Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in tax compliance, partnership returns, and corporate tax returns.

  • Ability to supervise staff and lead projects.

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GoSystems. Thompson Reuters Checkpoint experience a plus.

  • Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, and OCR technologies a plus.

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.

The base salary range for this position in Manhattan / New York City only is between $86,400 and $129,600.
