The Salvation Army Office Administrator/Social Services Worker (Middletown Corps) in Middletown, New York

Responsibilities

(General)

  • Promote observance of the Mission, Values and Doctrines of The Salvation Army.

  • Organize the Social Ministry of the Corps

  • Oversee the operating of the main office at the Corps

  • Responsible for sharing with the Corps Commanding Officer, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Corps Program.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Community and Our Social Service Program seeking to establish a close relationship with the Corps and its activities.

  • Normal hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. At times there may be need of flexibility with these hours.

    (Specific)

  • Answer telephone calls, take and deliver messages and disseminate information to callers

  • Keep record of Gifts in Kind given to the corps

  • Learn the new WellSky Social Service Database program and implement it in our corps

  • Organize the food to be distributed at our Second Harvest Food Table

  • Organize our Food Pantry Ministry, ensuring that the inventory is maintained to best serve our community and keeping in line with the budget

  • Keep our Food Pantry shelves stocked (note the lifting requirements below), placing monthly orders with the Food Bank

  • Submit monthly Retail Participating Agency form for donated foods

  • Organize the Good Neighbor Fund Program with Orange and Rockland for utility assistance during the winter season

  • Issue vouchers to the Thrift Store, being conscious of our budget limits

  • Submit timesheets for any employment programs using our building for training. (PathStone, etc.)

  • Organize outside groups using our facility

    (Christmas Ministry)

  • Assist with organizing the Christmas effort.

  • Assist with work with local Churches to recruit volunteers for kettles and angel trees

  • Organize the database for the families we assist, including the agnel tree project

  • As needed, organize toys as they are collected

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Responsible, respectful, positive role model and be able to follow instructions

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to learn new operating systems as mandated by The Salvation Army

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred
