4 fulltime, seasonal H-2A jobs available 3/11/24-11/11/24.

Duties: Operate trucks or other multi purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing whether on or off farm to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday including on public roads to reach farmers' fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as needed basis. Load agricultural products into trucks and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Not all workers are requested to drive; drivers will be required to possess a valid operator's license. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess a class D license.

Operate tractors, tractor drawn machinery, and machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate spray & harvest crops. Manually plant, cultivate & harvest vegetables, fruits and flowers including but not limited to: tree fruit, berries and field crops.

Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning shears and hooks, shears and knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning or pruning crops & applying pesticides.

Use tractors and trucks to move equipment and supplies. Construct and repair trellises, fences & farm buildings or participate in irrigation activities. Set up & operate irrigation equipment. Attach farm implements and make adjustments and repairs on machinery. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment.

Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. General field and orchard maintenance. Preparing, packing, set up, break down and loading for retail sales.

Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Identify plants, pests and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers to crops. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields or costs.

The employer will provide 4 days of training. Employers will expect workers to pick a minimum of 100 bu boxes of apples with no more than 4% bruising. All fruit is to be handled with care to avoid bruising. Workers are instructed to selectively pick mature fruit according to size, color or other USDA standards. Workers must be physically able to pick tree fruit, most of which is done from ladders with lower branches being picked from the ground. Workers are required to handle ladders up to 20" long and weighing about 2 lbs per foot.

Employers may conduct/require random drug or alcohol tests at employer's expense after hiring, for the safety of themselves and others as they will be operating machinery. Failure to comply with request or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in termination. Must be physically able to lift 75 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the day and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

While working in the field, cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only. Phone usage must be limited to break time and lunch break. Due to safety concerns on a farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English.
