The Norwich Campus of SUNY Morrisville has been serving the Norwich community and the surrounding areas for more than 46 years, offering students associate degree options such as Criminal Justice, Computer Information Technology, and Nursing. Job Description:

Brief Description of Duties:

SUNY Morrisville is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our campus as an Assistant Professor for our Nursing Department. As a member of our faculty, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of nursing professionals by integrating modern technology and innovative teaching methods into the nursing curriculum.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for nursing education with your expertise in leveraging technology to enhance the learning experience. This program is an ACEN Accredited Associate Degree Nursing program enrolling approximately 150 students, 50 of which are at the Norwich Campus.

Primary Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited to:

  • Curriculum Development:Collaborate with the nursing department to develop and update curriculum that reflects the latest advancements in healthcare technology and aligns with industry standards. Integrate technology-driven teaching strategies and active learning methods to engage students and promote critical thinking.

  • Classroom Instruction:Deliver high-quality instruction to nursing students utilizing a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, virtual simulations, online modules, and interactive multimedia resources. Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation. Coursework includes teaching theory and clinical in areas that include medical-surgical, psychiatric, pediatric, and obstetrical nursing.

  • Student Mentorship:Provide guidance and support to students throughout their educational journey, including recruiting students to join our program, academic advising, career counseling, and promoting professional development. Foster a student-centered approach that emphasizes individual growth and prepares students for the challenges of modern healthcare settings.

The successful candidate for this position will be a team player and open to continuous improvement! We are willing to provide training and mentorship to motivated candidates!

Travel to off-campus sites is required. Future teaching assignments could potentially include distance learning, evenings, weekends, and offsite locations.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree (or higher) in Nursing

  • Current license as a registered nurse (RN)

  • Recent nursing experience

  • Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to technology changes.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching, curriculum development, and program evaluation.

  • Membership in professional organizations
