Position: Director, Center for College & Careers Program: Center for College & Careers Reports To: Senior Vice President of Programs Location: Mount Vernon, NY Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, some evenings and weekend commitments Job Summary: The Center for College & Careers (CCC) is at the heart of The Guidance Center of Westchester’s youth and young adult programs. The CCC transforms the lives of youth and young adults (ages 13-24) so they can pursue post-secondary education or start on a career track. CCC helps participants develop skills and confidence while creating opportunities for them to have successful futures in whatever path they choose. The CCC Director will provide administrative oversight of all CCC programs monitoring compliance with rules, regulations, laws, policies and procedures to ensure that participants find their path to college and/or a career. Responsibilities: The core duties and responsibilities of the CCC Director include: Program • Develop and manage all aspects of CCC in-school and out-of-school programs, ensuring strong relationships and collaborations between CCC and schools, colleges, funders, employers, advisory board members, community-based organizations, governmental contacts, and the community at large. • Monitor levels of service, effectiveness, outcomes, and key performance indicators and goals for all CCC programs, including meeting budget targets and funding requirements. • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all program documentation, record keeping, and reporting. • Ensure key program components such as tutoring, college tours, career/vocational readiness workshops and opportunities, other workshops, adult education, job placements, and Summer Youth Employment Program activities occur within guidelines and funding contracts. • Implement program development in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Programs, expanding and maintaining model curriculums and evidence-based practices. • Manage the construction training program – FutureWork to FutureCareers o Organize all educational and hands on training sessions o Ensure the job placement of all students who complete the program o Complete all reports to funders on the program • Ensure that all funding requirements are met, that CCC programs are complying with expectations and regulations, and all reports are submitted on time. • Supervise the hiring, orientation, training, performance development, and performance evaluations of CCC team members, address staffing issues in collaboration with supervisor and human resources. • Organize volunteer opportunities for board members and donors. • Utilize social networking sites to increase the visibility of CCC and program offerings. Fundraising • Work in collaboration with the Development Team, Senior Vice President of Programs, and outside consultants to apply for grants, fundraise for the CCC programs, and support fundraising events including the annual CCC benefit. Administrative • Facilitate team meetings and individual supervision meetings with direct reports, keeping records of subject matters discussed and attendance. • Ensure all programs are operating within budget • Ensure all requested agency and funding reports/requests are completed on time Required Skills and Abilities: • Bachelor’s Degree/ Masters preferred • Excellent oral and written communication skills • A passion and desire to work with, and advocate for, at-risk youth, many of whom may have multiple barriers to employment • Strong networking skills and ability to connect with partner agencies, funders, and other key stakeholders • Knowledge in management and recruitment procedures. • Knowledge of labor market trends/requirements, and skills/abilities required in a wide variety of occupations • Ability to engage and motivate disconnected youth • Ability to develop program components • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) • Natural ability to be flexible, creative and tech savvy • Passion for TGCW’s mission, purpose, and an ability to communicate this passion to others Work Environment and Physical Requirements Travel Requirements: 50% Physical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to perform the job's essential functions successfully.
