Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Consultants, P.C. Surveying Intern in Mountainville, New York
Tectonic is currently accepting applications for a Summer 2019 Surveying Intern to join our Surveying team within our Corporate Orange County, NY Office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to gain hands on surveying experience while working with our diverse group of licensed survey professionals both in the office and in the field.
Assisting with drafting field surveys under the supervision of the surveying staff for a variety of sites, including boundary and topography surveys, plans, cross sections, and profiles;
Traveling to job sites to collect and record survey data using surveying instruments;
All related duties as required.
Must be in the process of obtaining a degree in Surveying (AS or BS) or a relevant degree with interest in pursuing a surveying career;
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD 2013 or newer and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
Must be detail oriented, with good interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to learn;
Valid, clean driver's license required; personal vehicle preferred.
While performing the essential functions of these positions, the employee is constantly required to assume a stationary position for prolonged periods of time, and handle inspect, and/or feel documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee will also need to process manual and computer generated reports, and will be required to communicate using the Corporate e-mail and telephone systems. The employee is frequently required to move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending the landscape, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary materials and equipment; they are sometimes required to do so in hazardous conditions, such as in woods, water, snow, etc.. The employee must frequently lift and/or move equipment up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move equipment up to 75 lbs.. This position involves regularly operating a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time. In accordance with the level of visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position in order to detect non-conformities.
