Genesee Country Museum Food Service Associate in Mumford, New York
Position Title: Food Service Associate
Reports to: Director, Food and Beverage
Hours: Seasonal (May-November), Part-Time Weekly, Weekends and some holidays
Rate of Pay: $14.20 per hour
Position Overview: The Food Service Department is responsible for supporting the daily operations of The Museum’s three onsite restaurants and catering functions.
Responsibilities
Daily kitchen/restaurant set-up and prep work for day’s food service
Use of grill, fryer, and other small kitchen equipment
Order taking, cash and credit card handling, operating a computerized Point-of-sale system, expediting and running food.
Daily and deep-cleaning of both dining room and kitchen equipment and work spaces;
Restock merchandise in restaurants
Help to keep a fun, friendly, and safe work environment for co-workers and customers
Qualifications
Experience in restaurant setting and some knowledge of cooking techniques
Willing to be trained in tasks, procedures and motivated to learn and grow
Ability to communicate accurate information to customers and staff
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
Ability to drive or learn to drive a golf cart and have a current driver’s license
Ability to frequently move boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
L1 or L2 Serv-safe certification is a plus
Must complete a background check
Courteous, friendly, and professional interactions working with a wide range of staff, customers, and volunteers
Deliver the highest level of customer service
Practice safe food handling and serving protocols and adhere to all Museum policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
Remaining and/or standing in one area for extended periods.
Standing for long periods of time without sitting.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach throughout your shift
The ability to work both independently or in a very busy, fast paced environment.
Shifts may require working outdoors in various weather conditions and walking on uneven terrain
