The HIV Navigator will engage Young Men who have Sex with Men (YMSM) in the communities of Hempstead, Westbury, Freeport, Uniondale, and Roosevelt in HIV, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Hepatitis C testing. Planned Parenthood of Greater New York's HIV, STD, HCV Prevention Program is grant funded by the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute (AI).

Other activities include:

  • Develop and enhance comprehensive HIV/STD/HCV programs through the implementation of proven high impact prevention strategies, such as “No Excuses (Sin Buscar Escusas), and innovative interventions for men who engage in high risk behaviors with a focus on women men of color.

  • Increase HIV/STD/HCV testing and screening services so that an increased number of women YMSM know their HIV/STD/HCV status.

  • Identify those living with HIV/STD's/HCV and ensure access to early, high quality medical care and prevention services, in conjunction with the Manager of HIV Prevention Programs and will work with women men who test negative on preventing HIV/STD/HCV infection.

  • Work with Manager of HIV Prevention Programs to ensure men are engaged in prevention services including: PrEP, PEP, Case Management, HIV Primary Care, other Prevention Services, as needed.

  • You Have:

  • High school diploma

  • Ability to communicate well with diverse groups of people

  • A valid driver's license to drive/operate the mobile testing unit and reliable transportation to travel through target regions

  • Knowledge of HIV, STDs and HCV and prevention strategies

  • Computer proficiency; data entry experience

  • An interest in expanding your analysis and knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and a commitment to building and/or deepening your commitment to racial equity in your work

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

All positions at PPGNY require:

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
