Our New Berlin location is currently looking to immediately fill an Inside Contractor Sales position. Curtis Lumber continues to grow with over 600 employees and 23 locations, in both New York and Vermont.


This position will support the outside sales force by handling face to face, phone and electronic sales by utilizing exceptional customer service and sales skills in order to meet or exceed sales and margin goals.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    Customer Service

  • Acknowledge, greet and assist customers in a timely and professional manner

  • Handle telephone and electronic inquiries efficiently and effectively

  • Identify the needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance to the customer

  • Effectively research and resolve customer complaints and conflicts

    Sales Skills

  • Understand the marketplace

  • Know product features

  • Work to meet prospect customers’ needs

  • Effective suggestive and upgrade selling and add on sales

  • Effective closing technique

  • Quote follow up- quote to order conversion

  • Share expertise with others

    Sales and Margin

  • Meet and or exceed individual sales goals

  • Meet and or exceed individual margin goals

    Outside Sales Support

  • Assist and support outside sales with product selection, questions and order writing

  • Assist with estimating material needed for projects

  • Set up special orders

  • Schedule deliveries to satisfy customer needs and to maintain the profitability of the sale

  • Develop a continuous business relationship with customers and our vendors

    Manage Order Profitability

  • Issue accurate and complete orders

  • Manage open order report
