Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz welcomes applications for the role of Credentials Specialist in the office of Records and Registration. Reporting to the University Registrar, the Credentials Specialist will oversee administrative processes related to microcredentials and will cross train with the Education Certification specialist to learn all teacher certification processes. This individual will facilitate communication between academic departments, student services, Academic Affairs and Graduate, Professional & Interdisciplinary Studies as it relates to microcredential coordination and NYS Ed. The Credentials Specialist will assist microcredential students with application, registration, credential progress, and credential badging.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:• Maintain oversight of microcredential administrative tasks• Assist students, faculty and staff with microcredential questions• Maintain and respond to e-mails sent to the microcredentials inbox• Assist students with and track microcredential applications• Assist with course registration changes for programs that do not self-register• Oversee processing of completed microcredentials, including transcript notations and submit verification for microcredential badging• Work with Academic Affairs to create and maintain microcredential attribute codes and coordinators in Banner• Cross-train with Education Certification Specialist to learn all NYS Ed teacher certification mandates and help to ensure they are met• Assist after degree conferrals (January, May, August and December) to identify students eligible for certification recommendation and assess TEACH to confirm completion of certification requirements and submit certification recommendations• Assist student faculty and staff with matters related to NYS Education certification requirements and the School of Education

Qualifications: Required:• Bachelor’s degree in hand by summer 2024• Excellent customer-service skills• Skill in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, and to be independently motivated• Strong planning, organizational, and management skills• Ability to collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to facilitate and improve services• Ability to work both in a team setting as well as independently• Ability to work effectively with diverse student population

Preferred:• Experience with Banner, Argos, and Slate, TEACH• Experience in Higher Education, especially in Student Services• Experience with education certification and or microcredentials
