Duties: Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Workers must be able to perform a variety of tasks without close supervision, which may include the following: lay sod, mow, mulch, trim, plant, water, fertilize, dig, rake, assist with sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units. Must exercise independent judgment; may be asked to demonstrate tasks to other employees but positions does not include supervision of other workers. Must lift/carry 50 lbs. when necessary.
Worksites: 34 Webster Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801 and multiple worksites within Westchester county. Employer will offer daily transportation to and from the worksite from a centralized designated pick-up place at no cost to workers. Use of this transportation is voluntary. Employer provides incidental transport between job sites.
No education reqd, 3 months of landscape experience reqd. Will accept a trainee/related experience. Post hire, random, upon suspicion, and post-accident drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers, at employer expense.
Work Hrs: Standard schedule is 8am-4:30pm M-F; 40 hours/wk at $17.75/hr (OT hrs vary at $26.63/hr). Sat/Sun work when reqd. Raise/bonus at employer discretion based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours, depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid weekly on Friday. All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made. Employer does not envision other workforce-wide payroll deductions.
Employer will provide without charge company-specific uniform and all tools, supplies and equipment necessary to perform duties assigned. If needed, employer intends to assist foreign and non-local U.S. workers hired pursuant to this job order to secure optional worker-paid lodging not to exceed reasonable fair market value cost based on number of occupants. Housing-related expenses are paid directly to facility owner/operator and are not payroll deducted.
Employer guarantees to offer hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 6-week period of the total contract period, beginning with the first workday after the worker arrives at the place of employment and ending on the contract end date or any extension thereof. Employer may count all hours worked, as well as any hours offered within the standard work schedule that a worker chooses to not work, up to the maximum number of daily hours on the job order. Workers who voluntarily abandon employment are not entitled to payment for outbound travel costs or the full three-fourths period guarantee described above.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence rates are $12.68/day without receipts or up to $55/day with receipts.
