The Carter's Apparel Design Co-Op Program is a great opportunity for an aspiring Apparel Designer to immerse themselves into the Apparel Design process. They will shadow a Designer, Associate and Assistant in all aspects, responsibilities and duties of design. The Intern will gain knowledge of childrenswear design, merchandising, production/sourcing and fit. Past interns have contributed significantly to creative development and on occasion have had opportunities to get their work in the seasonal line as appropriate. All interns are given a developmental project to work on during the season, present for feedback, and add to their portfolio for personal development. Core job responsibilities include:

  • 2-D Production
  • Regular sketching activities
  • Create sketches in Illustrator for Design and Tech
  • Manage Silo Matrix Organize/File paperwork and samples
  • Assist with color/color cards
  • Manage InDesign
  • Prepare presentation boards and research trends to share with the team
  • Assist Designers in various projects as needed
Experience and Skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
  • Actively pursuing a degree in a 'design' focused major
  • Strong time management skills
  • Good communicator
