Target Start Date: October 2021

Location : is headquartered in NYC. As a result of COVID-19, DoSomething staff are working fully remote. DoSomething is exploring a hybrid return to office approach with a target of fall 2021. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.

WHO WE ARE is a youth-led movement for good. Our social impact campaigns and programming have mobilized millions of members to clothe half of America’s youth in homeless shelters, clean up 3.7 million cigarette butts from the streets, run the largest youth-led sports equipment drive, and register over 250,000 voters ( during the 2020 presidential election.

Marketing is at the heart of DoSomething’s ability to elevate our youth-focused social impact campaigns, in partnership with our brand and scholarship partners. DoSomething is seeking a collaborative, organized, and results-oriented, Marketing Associate to support the Communications and Marketing team with executing over a dozen dynamic, innovative and impactful campaigns that activate youth for social impact.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Marketing, the Marketing Associate contributes to the mission and vision of by supporting all facets of DoSomething’s social impact marketing campaigns. This work will include implementing the communications and public relations strategies that activate youth to participate in our social impact campaigns, ensuring that we exceed expectations of our business partnerships, overseeing talent management, and supporting our scholarships programs.


Implementing Campaign Deliverables (30%)

  • Assist in creating and managing sponsored campaign deliverables, including promotional strategies, social media plans, weekly sponsor updates

  • Maintain campaign coverage tracker

  • Support Scholarships Support Associate in executing our scholarship programs (e.g.; coordinating, awarding, and disbursing scholarship funds), including those that are part of DoSomething campaign deliverables.

    Drive Earned Media for Marketing and Business Partnerships (25%)

  • Cultivate and maintain paid and in-kind partnerships with brands, media and ad companies, apps, websites, and more whose audience or values align with DoSomething or a specific cause area to drive new member acquisition, promote a PSA and ultimately, maximize DoSomething’s youth-driven mission

  • Support all facets of our marketing function with press asks, press releases, and project management, in partnership, with our external press agency

  • Lead DoSomething member outreach and coordination for any press related needs, including surfacing and aggregating top youth stories for press, obtaining signed release forms from members, etc.

  • Update DoSomething’s media coverage tracker and other internal systems to capture earned media, social media and impressions

  • Collaborate within the Marketing team on the strategy, monitoring, and evaluation of our scholarship marketing partner performance and adjust accordingly as guided by the Sr. Manager, Marketing.

    Support Marketing Team (25%)

  • Research and conduct outreach to new prospective marketing partners to amplify our campaigns , PSA video distribution, and/or new member acquisition.

  • Support the marketing team with administrative tasks as needed

    Cultivate Relationships with Brand Ambassadors (20%)

  • Prospect and cultivate relationships with celebrities and influencers to serve as ambassadors for our brand and campaigns

  • Create marketing materials to support brand ambassador engagement

  • Liaise with brand ambassadors for filming, media engagement, and/or social activation


    What you bring.

  • 1-2 years direct experience in a support role. Ideally coordinating generalist marketing and/or social media functions.

  • Skilled in reporting. You are comfortable tracking information and navigating spreadsheets, distilling insights from data, and communicating data-backed recommendations for continuous process improvement.

  • An affinity for efficiency. You’re proficient in the project management tools (e.g. Trello, AirTable, Slack) and techniques to keep things running smoothly. Familiarity with CRM(s) like Hubspot and Salesforce strongly desired, but not required.

  • Social media obsessed. Must be knowledgeable about social media platforms from a branding perspective, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, as well as emerging trends within the social space.

  • Pop culture connoisseur. You know how to keep your finger on the pulse of current events and trends among our primary demographic, and you’re practiced in applying a race-intentional and inclusive lens to inform your understanding of youth culture throughout the identity and political spectrum.
