The City University of New York’s Career Development and Internships unit is seeking up to four highly qualified undergraduate students, alumni, or advanced degree candidates to serve as Project Facilitators. They will assist with delivery of a series of three (3) online summer intensives for CUNY participants selected for Summer Intensive for Policy Program (SIPP). Project Facilitators must be familiar with a variety of distance/online learning platforms such as Blackboard, Zoom, Google Classroom, Webex, etc. Individuals fulfilling this role will also support the administrative operations of the program. The intensives are designed to provide CUNY students with the opportunity to explore the process of policy development, practice the skills necessary for creating and implementing policies as well as increase personal and workplace readiness skills associated with careers in policy decision-making. Project Facilitators will support the work of two Project Instructors and one Lead Trainer, who will implement programming for up to 100 student participants in summer 2020. This is a remote position; interested candidates will need to have access to an internet service.
The SIPP will provide CUNY students with the opportunity to explore policy development and the skills needed to make organization-based decisions. The pilot program will also increase personal and workplace readiness skills associated with careers in policy- and decision-making. Program’s goals are:
Train CUNY students on the steps of the policy making process with a focus on developing public policy for social justice and inclusion and/or advocacy thereof
Coordinate training CUNY students in fundamental competencies in career readiness
Assist in the implementation of up to 3 program cycles of 100 students each.
Assist in the administrative tasks required for successful implementation including scheduling, student follow-up, documentation of participation and student communications
Engage student participants remotely in small groups and individually
Maintain attendance records and other data entry for tracking and monitoring
Some experience in facilitating workshops or engaging students/peers;
Experience utilizing a variety of distance learning techniques and platforms including Blackboard, Zoom, Webex, etc.
Knowledge of policy and decision-making processes—public, nonprofit, and/or private organizations
Outstanding communication skills (oral, writing, and inter-personal)
Ability to work collaboratively with CDI staff and partner faculty
Enthusiasm and confidence in engaging peers
Familiarity with issues faced by college students in urban settings
