Withum’s Tax Services Group is made up of a brilliant team of tax specialists that work to ensure tax reporting obligations are met in an accurate and timely manner and minimize or defer the payment of taxes. Their comprehensive understanding of international, US federal, state, and local regulations, including our affiliation with HLB international, allows them to help develop global tax strategies . Withum’s tax services include Business Taxes, State & Local tax, International Tax, Tax Credit and incentives (including the R&D tax credit), and Private Client services.

As a Tax Operations Specialist in our Tax Services group, this role will report directly to the Head of Tax. You will also work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known tax industry leaders. You will collaborate regularly with the Innovation Team, the Tax Leadership Team, the Utilization Team, and other firm stakeholders. The TOS will assist the Head of Tax to oversee firm tax department operations and work on strategic initiatives that align with firm growth goals. The duties of the TOS will be focused in three key areas: Innovation, Process and Workflow, and Team Member Utilization.

How you’ll spend your time:

Overall

Assist with Strategic Growth plan to double tax revenue 3 to 5 years
Meet with Head of Tax & tax leadership team monthly to present status updates
Review/Assist with Tax Strategic plan including pillars for growth, innovation, people and clients and hold teams accountable
Provide solutions/ideas
Innovation

Meet with the innovation/dev team and coordinate/organize tax ideas
Analyze ROI and follow up with Sponsor/owner
Understand which are short term and long term - who do they benefit?
Confirm with IT that projects are viable
People

Meet with schedulers and understand tax bandwidth
Do we have the right people at the right levels?
Review strategically best way to keep people utilized over the year - minimize crunch times
Reconcile variance between budget and actual charge time
We are primarily looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

Prior tax experience and CPA credential is preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or another business-related field required
Strong project management skills & ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to think outside of the box and bring ideas to the tax leadership team
Ability to execute on tasks
Effectively communicate with high level executives/management
Knowledge of tax department processes, workflow & tax technology tools
