Your role:

Quantitative trading involves programming, researching, and modelling to make the best trading decisions. On quantitative trading desks, trading relies heavily on automated algorithms. These algorithms can be agency trading algorithms to be used by clients or principal trading algorithms used by an internal trading book. Quantitative trading makes use of many fields including statistics, computer science, and machine learning.

Interns on quant-trading desks will assist in building models used for trading, and evaluating and improving existing models to adapt to every changing market conditions. Interns will learn about and work with key concepts in trading such as portfolio risk management, market impact, market making, and market signals.

Your team:

You’ll be working in the Investor Client Services team, looking after professional investors like asset managers and fund managers. You’ll give them advice and do everything that’s needed to buy and sell securities for them. From start to finish. You’ll be able to draw on the strength of UBS platforms, products, services and people worldwide to give your clients whatever they need.

Your expertise:

Basic: Candidates must graduate from a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program, a Master’s degree program, or an international equivalent between December 2020 and June 2021. A competitive cumulative GPA is strongly preferred.

Preferred: We look for individuals who seek challenge in an intellectually stimulating environment. The majority of our hires have degrees in economics, engineering, finance, mathematics or the physical sciences, but the total scope is much broader, including majors from astronomy to political science. However, we have found that individual qualifications are more important than a specific major or concentration thus there is no prerequisite coursework.
