This position will offer workplace flexibility e.g. working remotely or on site as needed/ desired during the week. The Summer Analyst Program provides outstanding undergraduate students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience with a unique institution. Through advanced project work assignments and professional development activities, summer analysts are provided with an extensive understanding of the work of the New York Fed. In addition to their daily responsibilities, summer analysts attend weekly presentations hosted by senior management. These presentations provide an extensive overview of the Bank's responsibilities and operations and offer a unique opportunity to learn about full-time career opportunities upon graduation. The summer program is the largest recruitment source for the New York Fed's full-time campus hiring.
What we do:
The Technology Group (TG) is responsible for the strategic planning and provisioning of automation services to the Bank. These include application development, data architecture, network, communications and data center infrastructure and operations, project management, technology vendor management, and overall information technology and information security. The Group also provides national information security, incident response, national remote access and enterprise search services for the Federal Reserve System.
Summer Analysts within TG can be placed in one of the following areas:
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy:
Responsible for technology strategy and solution design, including guidance for investments in innovation, and key opportunities to retire technical debt (outmoded products and services).
Information Security (ISNY):
Develops, executes and maintains a superior information security program that promotes resiliency by identifying and mitigating cyber risks and threats through risk-based consultation, advice, and direction for controls, designs, and investments for the Group and the entire Bank.
Enterprise Platforms and Capabilities:
Responsible for all application delivery and maintenance across the entire Bank, influences not only how the Bank thinks about its work, but also how it does its work with nimble organizational principles that empower employees and fuel constant innovation.
Responsible for all technology support services across the Bank, including coordinating with National IT on matters of shared infrastructure, system processes, and end-user technologies. Centralizes all technology support activities and leverages vendors to provide scalable and flexible workspace technologies, handling incidents as needed.
Data and Analytics Office:
Directs all aspects of data management within the Bank, and coordinates policies that will get promoted across the Federal Reserve System. Serves as a coordinating and centralizing body for data and analytics, organizing data access, establishing data foundations, while also driving innovation through advanced analytics.
Oversight and Business Operations:
Provides oversight to ensure technology services aligns with the Bank’s strategic direction in order to deliver optimum value to the Bank by managing risk, governing TG processes, supporting reporting and metrics, all administrative support, project management practices, vendor and asset manager and tracking group financials.
What we are looking for:
The TG Summer Analyst Program is open to applicants who have completed their sophomore year of college by the beginning of the internship. The program is extremely competitive and size is limited. As a summer analyst in TG, applicants must have a demonstrated interest in, computer science, information systems, application development, business technology, or related discipline and a strong academic record. Specific technical skills may be required depending on area and project.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, make sound decisions, and manage multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Ability to grasp information quickly
Attention to detail
Ability to work productively in a high-performance team atmosphere and as an independent analyst

Internships are paid, summer housing is not provided.
Federal Reserve Bank of New York summer internships are limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law.
