Reporting to: Senior Strategist

Location: We are currently 100% remote. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the US will be considered.

DoSomething.org is a youth-led movement for good.

We have the stability of a 28-year-old institution, but we look, feel, and operate like a tech-forward nonprofit.

Our social impact campaigns have mobilized millions of DoSomething.org members to clothe half of America’s youth in homeless shelters, clean up 3.7 million cigarette butts from the streets, run the largest youth-led sports equipment drive, and register over 250,000 voters during the 2020 presidential election.

Summary

DoSomething Strategic (DSS) is the consultancy-arm of DoSomething.org, focused on young people and purpose. We leverage what DoSomething knows about young people to help brands and not-for-profit organizations engage them for good. Over the years we’ve had the opportunity to work with clients such Spotify, Nike, NRDC, Human Rights Campaign, and many others.

Reporting to the Senior Strategist, the Account Manager will add value to the overall client experience through high-touch client services, and our strategic team with comprehensive project management and research.

Responsibilities

  • CLIENT MANAGEMENT (85%)

  • Liaise between the client and strategy team:

  • Meet with clients regarding project plan/statuses, serving as contact between the client and strategy team and gaining the client’s trust.

  • Attend all client meetings, and be responsible for accurate and thorough documentation, included but not limited to: call notes, status reports, recap emails, etc.

  • Gain an understanding of clients’ goals, needs, and the market they operate in to provide insights and guidance.

  • Address and communicate any issues or delays in the project, and incorporate clients’ feedback in troubleshooting.

  • Deliver completed projects to the client on time, be responsible for final review of deliverables, and ensure overall client satisfaction.

  • Help shape the overarching DSS-client strategy: Liaise with the client at all stages of the assignment, anticipate client needs, and respond accordingly in collaboration with the strategy and/or business development teams as required.

  • Ensure best customer experience possible: Coordinate and manage all administrative processes in service of the client relationship, including, but not limited to:

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of time and expenses

  • Budget forecasting, reconciliation and reporting

  • Monthly account reviews

  • Vendor and contingent workforce management

  • Evaluating processes for continuous improvement

  • BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH (15%)

  • Contribute to the thought leadership and cultural analysis that keeps our team plugged into young people and culture:

  • Conduct independent research and cultural analysis to inform an understanding of clients’ industry, business, consumer and brands.

  • Codify and communicate insights to stakeholders throughout the organization.

  • Create research memos with business and strategy recommendations to help DSS navigate cultural trends and prepare itself and our clients for the future.

What you bring.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a client-facing role or sales role with working knowledge of strategic consulting or marketing.

  • Finely tuned relationship management and analytics skills. You have the ability to actively listen, learn, and draw insights from both quantitative and qualitative sources to inform your work and add value to your client relationships.

  • Client success obsessed. You demonstrate a genuine concern for the needs and expectations of clients and make them a high priority. You have a known knack for the kind of follow-up and follow-through that make stakeholders swoon, and you’re responsive with the communications that keep things on track and proactive in addressing issues before they escalate.

  • Pop culture consciousness and curiosity. You’re versed on a wide range of issues (from trends like #eattherich, to Biden’s quiet climate agenda), a voracious consumer of culture and information, explorer of the world, and you have a proven track record of applying race-intentional and inclusive lenses to inform your understanding of youth culture throughout the identity and political spectrum.

  • An affinity for efficiency. You are proficient in project management tools (e.g. AirTable, Smartsheets, Slack) and techniques, adept at managing competing priorities, and skilled in tracking and measuring multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of detail and accuracy. You have working knowledge of GSuite (especially slides), MS Office (mainly Excel), and Hubspot CRM. Basic budget management skills are a huge plus.

  • Really strong written and verbal communication skills. You’re experienced at developing on-brand content with clear narratives and compelling solutions. Must be comfortable with public speaking, storytelling, and “working the room” as the business requires it.

  • A willingness to travel 15-20% of the time. As is recommended by CDC safety guidelines.

How long do we retain this data?

  • DoSomething will retain candidate profiles for 3 years.

  • Annually on August 1, candidate profiles from 3+ years prior will be entirely deleted from our system.

Is your data secure?

  • JazzHR maintains secure job board pages. Job boards will default to HTTPS. Additionally, if we were to terminate our contract with JazzHR our candidate data is deleted from JazzHR’s systems in accordance with JazzHR’s Terms of Service.
