The New School Admissions Counselor, Undergraduate Admissions in New York, New York

Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admission for Parsons School of Design, the Admission Counselor will represent The New School undergraduate programs in a full range of recruitment activities, interviews, special events and related tasks on and off campus. To achieve enrollment goals, the successful individual will work closely with faculty, administrators, current and prospective students from Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang College. This position will assist in all phases of the recruitment/admissions process and is based at our New York City campus. Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director of Admission with managing the admissions process for the Lang College and Parsons Undergraduate programs

• Represent The New School Undergraduate Programs in a full range of recruitment activities and special events, both on- and off-campus

• Interview and counsel students on the undergraduate admission requirements

• Train and manage undergraduate student workers in communication with prospective students and applicants

• Provide basic financial aid and scholarship information to prospective students and families

• Application file review for bachelor’s degree applications

• Review and evaluate art portfolios

• Conduct information sessions

• Serve as liaison to undergraduate faculty regarding application review, recruitment and outreach activities

• Manage a domestic recruitment territory and develop relationships with key influencers

• Assist with social media, event planning, webinars, web content management, and communications plan

• Duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Admission

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Demonstrated computer knowledge/skills such as MS Office

• Ability to interact well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Self motivated and task oriented

• Excellent customer service skills

• Flexibility within an evolving work situation

• Valid driver’s license • Ability to travel

• Evening and weekend hours required Work hours: General office hours 9am – 5pm EST , but hours varies greatly during recruitment and yield seasons

Preferred Qualifications:

• BFA , Art background or previous experience working in art/design field

• BANNER , Slate, experience desirable

• 1-2 years of higher education professional experience
